Today we attended a meeting where our role was discussed with members of the UKSLTG board. As the service develops and increasing numbers of professionals volunteer, the charity is taking time to reflect on how we capacity build and whether workshops and training sessions could be supplemented with longer-term working partnerships with specific organisations in Sri Lanka. Related to this we also discussed how we monitor the effectiveness of our input for those with whom we collaborate. This meeting gave us an opportunity to reflect on our role as volunteers and the work of the charity, and how we might facilitate service development in the future.
We also met with Dr. Ganesan, a psychiatrist who has kindly arranged for us to spent a day at the National Institute of Mental Health to observe the work that is being done there. In exchange, we will be offering a two-hour lecture on the role of Clinical Psychology and how we can think about different clinical presentations from a psychological perspective.
Finally we continued to develop our presentations ahead of the training we will be delivering next week, before catching a bus to Kandy.
